How to do formulas in openoffice spreadsheet

Post by SweetWillie » Sun Mar 16, 2014 12:37 am

Does CALC have a way to do a function for sets of numbers, rather than just posting a result in ONE CELL?
Example; I have numbers in a1:10, B1:10, and C1:10, and I want to calculate
d(1:10)=a(1:10)*b(1:10)-c(1:10)
How should I set that up?
Or does the formula syntax even allow that?
Another example: I have numbers in colums A1:10,
and I want to calculate the SIn and Cos of each of those numbers in B1:10, and C1:10.

Copy&Paste
Drag&Drop the cell handle
menu:EditFill Down
Alt+Enter into selected cells

Any old Excel book of the past 25 years tells you the details about how to edit a spreadsheet and what relative references are.

This does not answer my question.

I want to avoid having to copy a formula 50 times if I have 50 colums of
numbers to process. This does not give me a way to do that.

Sure - - I know how to put 50 different formulas in.

But this question was trying to get a way to avoid all that endless
editing, if there is a way to do that, OK. If not I need to know also.

OLD EXCEL BOOKS? How would I ever get those?
What is the point of this forum then?

Besides if its a new feature, they would not have a way of doing what I need.

We are not here to spoon feed the basics that are well known for all similar programs since 25 years. There are thousands of resources, books and web pages.
My answer does answer the question. Copy one cell, select many cells and paste or use the cell handle in the bottom right corner of a cell selection or select many cells with the source cell on top and call menu:Edit>Fill>Down
