My Exam Experience: Being a mechanical engineer, I have vacancies only in GENCO among 4 power companies (GENCO, TRANSCO, NPDCL, SPDCL). But that is enough! A big room can be opened from a small door key! When the notification was released, I was working in SAIL as Management Trainee in West Bengal. I thought of not writing the exam due to journeys here and there! But “YES” I know my parents would never come out of Telangana to live, and if I live far, I could not care them properly. And also the love that I have towards Telangana drove me towards the exam so as to avail myself serve the state by one way or the other! Hence, I wrote the exam & now I am an AE in TSGENCO! Strictly speaking, I prepared for the exam merely 15 days due to time lack in training of SAIL! But this could be enough to me because I had studied well in my B.Tech and I still remember what I studied. The Civils coaching that I took at YSR Study Circle gave me in-depth insight into General Knowledge though I had touch with GK from my B.Tech itself. I had gone through MadeEasy handbook to brush up my surface knowledge, opened the notes that I wrote in my B.Tech and read them (Don't know why but I carry all my books & notes wherever I am). I sometimes watched at indiabix.com theory bits. Also took 3-4 online exams in Eenadu & Sakshi websites by paying a nominal fee like Rs. 50-100/-. That is it! Since, the selection process contains only the exam, the competition becomes much tougher as many candidates can clear the exam. Hence, it is an advantage that there is no GD & Interview and of course a disadvantage too-competition becomes much higher! I know that there are many candidates who missed it just by 1-2 marks. Still no worries! I have never seen such a simple selection process for a post which gives you the prestigious position and the highest salary in the state at parallel lines! Hence, if you can't even clear the exam then you don't even deserve the post. Wake up & Hurry Up! Nobody is born talented. It is our own sense of making ourself senseful. I could hardly see the difference between the candidates who is AE now and the candidate who is not (missed the exam). The difference is merely their preparation of exam and writing it. There is nothing more difference between these candidates at all. All of us are merely humans! Jobful & Jobless. Thats it!
The guidance for different candidates becomes different. It all depends on the capability of the candidate. But still, here are the rough suggestions for a typical candidate from the experience of the question paper. 1. The exam was not that tough, not that easy. Hence, prepare for tough, becomes easy. 2. Many of the questions are small/one formula logical questions and/or theory bits. 3. For a typical start up candidate, not giving up preparation of 2-3 months is enough. 4. The time spent on studies doesn't matter. What matters is how much is learnt! 5. Have an idea on all topics of all subjects. At least roughly if not in-depth. 6. Write own notes while preparing and revise them continuously. 7. For your preparation, Use Family, Use Friends, Use Internet and finally You be Usefull. 8. Write as many as online/offline exams as possible. 9. Debate with friends on subject. 10. Read in your comfortable time. Know your comfortable & active timings. 11. Skip away the family & other pressures if any. 12. Make your journey comfortable to the exam hall. No hurry burries! 13. Eat lite food on the exam day. 14. In the exam, first solve the questions you know. This is very important. 15. No negative marks-Visit & answer every question.
